John Dvorak has once again come out with a few buckets of tripe and rubbish, this time regarding how much he hates mobile phones and how the industry must die. In a few words, my reply would be, “You sir, are a class one link baiting crazy man who never talks any truth and annoys the hell out of most”, but I can’t leave it at that can I?
I must say I agree with very little of what John has to say. The only bit that really did get me thinking is the following:
“He describes a process where the phone takes a picture then automatically sends the picture to a blog site and then passes it on to some photo-sharing system that gets routed directly to his mom. How sweet.
So what does mom think when some drunk gets hold of the phone in a bar and starts taking upskirt pics? I mean really. This entire lash-up is not something I’d ever want. Just because you can use various complex mechanisms to do weird things doesn’t mean you have to or should do them.”
But then I think. Who actually has it set up to send pictures to their mom? Or if you are in the UK, your “Mum”.
There is nothing to stop some drunk posting porn through the letter box of the house where your Mum lives (Yes I had to word that extra carefully) or indeed making strange phone calls when they steal even the most basic of phones. Perhaps the answer Mr. Dvorak needs is a pin on his phone. Problem solved. I have a pin on mine. I am sure he has a bank account with a pin on, most likely a computer with a pin on too, so is it too much to ask for him to put one on his phone?
The mad man goes on to say
“Anyway, the entire handset industry is boiling down to Motorola and Nokia with everyone else falling by the wayside.”
Could this be because the competition are making rubbish phones? If your shoes fell apart 1 day after using them for walking I am sure you would get your money back and go buy a different brand of shoes in the future right? Perhaps a ‘proven’ brand, with the look, comfort and quality you want?
As usual this is another shoddy bit of Dvorak writing that is done just to get attention. The sadder point of this is that it has worked, otherwise, why would I be writing this post? I am sure that when he does make calls, they are often to other people on mobile phones, if they didn’t have them I am sure his communications and job would be far harder than they are. It would be almost the same as removing email simply because of how embedded in society mobile phones are now..
I am not going to go into the rest of the ‘article’ by Dvorak as I am sure you can all see the pattern that has formed. Instead I shall let you read it for yourself, but please, do come back and share what you think as I would hope I am not the only one that Dvorak has once again cheesed off.
