A Curious Mobile Marketing Birthday
Posted by michael on Oct 22, 2008 in Mobile Marketing
So today is my birthday.
Now, before you start to think that I’m just fishing for birthday cards, cakes, and presents, there is a legitimate Mobile Marketing Watch reason for discussing this occasion in my life.
Today, I have received more mobile marketing birthday greetings from companies and businesses than I have cumulatively received from family and friends in the last five years. And you know what? Even though I know these entities are merely trying to butter me up so that I do more business with them, it still made me feel all warm and special inside. In other words, it worked.
As a result, a poking question popped into my head. Has a mobile marketing endeavor ever tugged on your emotional strings? Birthdays or otherwise?
Your thoughts, please.

I thought only girls fell for this stuff, like me, it’s nice to know that guys are not immune. A birthday or any kind of greeting is always cool, no matter the source. What birthday is it Michael?

@ RV
I remember hearing about that on the news and the anchors were wondering how that would impact Obama’s campaign, I am sure you were not the only one pissed off. They did say that it was not done on purpose, just a major mistake.

Yes the emotion is certainly there. Unfortunately, most of the times it is negative..
But I feel this is only down to poorly designed campaigns, or ones missing the necessary context in order to affect me. Poorly targeted campaigns just make you feel the same way when somebody has dialed the wrong number and you’ve picked up. It’s just irrelevant, and it’s taking up your time. And when you’re busy, this is definitely a negative feeling.
The birthday alarm is a perfect example of how it should work!
