Amazon ‘Deals’ Adds to Online Retailer’s Growing Family of Mobile Apps

Amazon Deals Adds to Online Retailers Growing Family of Mobile Apps 208x300 Amazon Deals Adds to Online Retailers Growing Family of Mobile AppsOn Wednesday, Amazon.com announced Amazon Deals, a new – and free – mobile application for the iPhone that serves up familiar, on-the-go access to “daily deals” from the Amazon.com Gold Box.

In a clear effort to capitalize on the mobile commerce boom, Amazon says its new app lets customers act quickly on limited-availability discounts and stay informed of hot deal notifications.

In a masterstroke of mobile marketing genius, the Amazon app enables users to enjoy push notifications for “discount alerts” as they pop up across multiple categories. The aforementioned deals can be easily emailed to others or posted to one’s preferred social network like Facebook or Twitter.

“With Amazon Deals, no matter where they are, our customers can stay connected and informed on deals in their favorite categories and purchase from their iPhone immediately, before they sell out, so they never have to miss another deal,” said Sam Hall, director of Amazon Mobile.

Amazon is quickly becoming the Duggar family of the app world, as the online retailer’s swelling “family of mobile apps” already includes the likes of Price Check by Amazon for iPhone, Amazon Windowshop for iPad and the Amazon App for iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android-based devices.

The Amazon Deals app is available now and runs on iOS 3.1.3 or later.

  1. Do you know if Amazon plan on building an app store for phones? They are an online leader, it would be interesting to see if they started competing with Apple and Google in that space
