Competition is always good at the end. It will be great if other names and brands get involved for the sake of variety and choice.

This "battle" will benfit the customers and the market, it will bring more technology approach and reduce prices. I love Apple and think they can do a great job regarding mobile ads, much more than Google.

Thanks for the view, Dena. If Steve Jobs is going to revolutionise mobile ads, then he’ll do it by joining up the dots – the iPhone is a design god, better looking than Android for sure. Both exist only because of their powers of connection - otherwise they’d be very handsome bricks. They work as part of a close-knit online team and agencies will be building campaigns, not around mobile, but around integration – innovative and thrilling ideas that play out on any platform.

[...] This post today on MobileMarketingWatch.com cites a Business Week article in which the Apple honcho bluntly describes his view of the utility offered by current mobile advertising formats. He also apparently sees this as an opportunity for Apple to innovate and ultimately dominate the mobile ad medium, even in the face of online ad champ Google and its mobile focus. We have speculated as much here.
There's a great Gartner report that says Android will beat out iPhone by 2012. Have you seen it?

Did you see Guy Kawasaki, Seth Godin & Scobleizer raving about AppMakr? We just launched & built 1,858 iPhone apps in 6 days. Release at http://bit.ly/8fMDf8

Let me know if you'd like to cover it. Much more info at http://blog.AppMakr.com

@bvc Apple isn't god, nor did I intend to make it sound like that in this post. Merely, Apple IS a threat to Google, and vice versa. Both have the money to do some exciting things for mobile marketing. With just Apple in the game and mobile marketing early in its infancy, there was little need for fast innovation on either end. Apple and Google both have the power to innovate internally and acquire companies who are proving success stories in the mobile marketing and advertising industries.
