Next week, Apple will celebrate a milestone birthday for its insanely popular and wildly successful App Store.
To commemorate the app storefront’s groundbreaking accomplishments over the last five years, Apple has begun sharing a promotional poster with reporters as they plan to cover Wednesday’s App Store launch anniversary.
Tim Bradshaw of the Financial Times is among the few who have received the poster from Apple, which highlights the remarkable growth that has occurred since 2008.
The retrospective highlights include:
- On July 10th, 2008, Apple opened the iPhone App Store with a scant 500 apps.
- The App Store is now populated by some 850,000 applications.
- There are now 350,000 native iPad apps available on the App Store.
- The App Store has generated more than 50 billion app downloads to date.
