News out of the Far East this week suggests Apple will likely unveil a new iPhone in May, effectively accelerating a more aggressive product release schedule for the iDevice maker in 2014.
DigiTimes reports that the next-gen iPhone will pack a larger-than-usual display and use a 20nm processor manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
But the iPhone won’t be alone in its early 2014 refresh. The publication notes that Apple will similarly update its iPad line with 12.9-inch model, although the tablet won’t launch in spring.
The next-gen iPad will “target North America’s educational market.”
“Apple’s large-size tablet will be manufactured by Quanta Computer, and was originally expected to adopt either 12.9- or 13.3-inch panels, with recent rumors indicating that 12.9-inch has a better chance to be picked,” the report reads.
