The event aims to pair eHealth and mHealth entrepreneurs with health care providers and payors in order to accelerate the adoption of promising new innovations and build upon a burgeoning federal government effort to invest in health innovation.

According to details made available in this morning’s press release, the World Congress eHealth Innovation Conference – New England will provide educational conference-format sessions with federal and state government health care leaders, plus match-making sessions between eHealth innovators with top New England health care providers and payors, including chief information and innovation officers.

mHealth WellDoc Prgram Reduces Hospital Visits Among Diabetes Patients 300x284 mHealth: WellDoc Program Reduces Hospital Visits Among Diabetes Patients According to an announcement this week at the mHealth Summit, George Washington University Center’s Dr. Richard Katz revealed that WellDoc’s mobile health program DiabetesManager reduced ER visits and hospital stays by 58 percent year over year.

If you’re not familiar with the platform, DiabetesManager is a software-based medical device cleared by the FDA and powered by a proprietary Automated Expert Analytics System.

The demonstration program, titled DC HealthConnect, was part of the Chronic Care Initiative sponsored by the DC Department of Health (DOH) and was conducted by the George Washington University Medical Center under the supervision of Dr. Katz.

The advanced technology, which was developed at the Invasive Cardiology Institute by Professor Ran Kornowski of Rabin Medical Center, takes all the pertinent information collected during a medical procedure and sends it directly to the iPad.

This new application, for example, allows a cardiologist to see the entire catheterization process on the iPad, both for utilization with the patients and the staff.

The hospital at the center of today’s mHealth buzz is Washington Hospital Center, the facility behind “CodeHeart,” the highly secure mobile application solution developed and customized in collaboration with AT&T that provides a real-time video and audio stream that can be used in critical care situations, such as ambulances in transit.

According to an example presented in a press release issued by the medical facility, the solution can be used by hospital cardiologists to view, in real-time, a patient’s condition while simultaneously speaking with the patient’s first responder or the attending Emergency Department (ED) physician. Importantly, the solution also provides physicians the ability to view vital signs and test results–like electrocardiograms (ECG)–captured through the real-time video feed.
