This week, Groupon CEO Andrew Mason published a letter to investors, outlining both Groupon’s charted course of expansion, and also its huge backing from the mobile community.
According to Mason, 30 percent of all transactions on Groupon’s platform now come from mobile devices.

If a small business is growing today, there’s a good chance mobile marketing has something to do with it.
That’s according to a new Small Business Mobile Survey from Web.com Group, Inc.
On Thursday, results of the new survey were published. Not surprisingly, the findings indicate that mobile marketing has played a major role in the expanding business activity within the small business community.
The published report notes that 69% of small businesses presently consider mobile marketing “crucial to their growth” in the next five years.

On Friday, eWeek reported the biggest news in mobile on the East Coast today. The New York State Department of Health, the New York City Investment Fund (NYCIF) and the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) are forging a coalition in the mobile realm.

On Friday, the internet and mobile security experts at AVG Technologies released its Q1 2012 Community Powered Threat Report.
The report raises awareness about the use of mobile devices in connecting with social networks and how this is fast becoming a preferred method for cyber criminals to spread malware – primarily to Android-powered devices.
“We detected a big increase in the use of social networks such as Facebook and Twitter to target Android users. Cyber criminals are finding it very convenient to distribute their malware straight to a mobile device via these networks,” says Yuval Ben-Itzhak, Chief Technology Officer at AVG. “The growth of the Android platform has been phenomenal, which has not gone unnoticed with cyber criminals who have discovered it to be a lucrative target for their malware. In 2011, Google had to remove over 100 malicious apps from the official Android market, Google Play.”
