Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg of AllThingsD announced Tuesday that Cook will open the D11 conference.

Cook provided his first major interview as the CEO of Apple during D10 last year.

The fastest sellout in WWDC history, it took two hours – not two minutes – for the 2012 conference to sellout.

Generating stronger-than-usual interest this year is the revelation by Apple that both iOS and OS X refreshes will be unveiled at the conference this summer.

MMA NY Forum Early Bird Registration Ends Today 300x63 MMA NY Forum Early Bird Registration Ends TodayLate last month, the Mobile Marketing Association announced that it will present its New York Forum: Mobile’s Role in the Path to Purchase earlier than originally anticipated. Instead of June, the MMA is bumping up the event to May 8-10.

As of February 28th, registration for the event was open. Friday morning, however, the MMA sent out an email blast reminding potential attendees that early bird registration ends today.

“With 1000+ of the Mobile industry’s key brand, agency, technology and media influencers expected at this years’ event, the NY Forum reflects the growing power of mobile and it’s value in the path to purchase,” the organization says.

Last month, Google confirmed that its annual developers conference would take place in May this year, moving the popular event back a month from its usual June start date.

The event is currently set for May 13th through May 15th.

We are told that Dallas De Atley, manager of Apple’s platform security team, will deliver a presentation on “key security technologies within iOS.”

It’s significant because in recent years, Apple products have been stripped of their image of being hack-proof. The company’s rise has made it a bigger target, as hackers have been discovering bugs in the iPhone since it came out in 2007.
