The organizations have partnered up to offer “The Bully Text: Superstar Edition,” a campaign that employs an SMS text message game to encourage young people to take action to combat bullying.

Those laws specifically prohibit the use of auto dialers to send SMS messages without a recipient’s consent, but Philadelphia resident Bill Dominquez says that he indeed received those messages, to the tune of approximately 5000 in a five-month period. Dominquez wants the lawsuit to continue but, not surprisingly, Yahoo is asking for the court to uphold the decision to dismiss it.

FTC Blasts T Mobile Over Bogus Mobile Charges 300x225 FTC Blasts T Mobile Over Bogus Mobile ChargesIn a complaint filed Tuesday, the Federal Trade Commission charged mobile phone service provider T-Mobile USA with making “hundreds of millions of dollars” by placing charges on mobile phone bills for purported “premium” SMS subscriptions that, in many cases, were allegedly “bogus charges that were never authorized by its customers.”

The FTC alleges that T-Mobile received anywhere from 35 to 40 percent of the total amount charged to consumers for subscriptions for content such as flirting tips, horoscope information or celebrity gossip that typically cost $9.99 per month.

T-Mobile in some cases continued to bill its customers for these services offered by scammers years after becoming aware of signs that the charges were fraudulent, a provided statement from the FTC reads.
