AT&T announced Monday that its Enhanced Push-to-Talk (EPTT) feature is now available to AT&T business customers through a new app available for iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S.
According to Monday’s announcement, this marks the first time a U.S. carrier is offering push-to-talk capabilities on the iPhone.
AT&T Enhanced Push-to-Talk can even be used over Wi-Fi now, representing yet another first.

On Friday, Fiksu reported that downloads from Apple’s App Store popped 11 percent in April, largely aided by Facebook mobile app install ads.
The Fiksu App Store Competitive Index (which measures the average aggregate daily download volume of the top 200 free U.S. iPhone apps) climbed to 5.61 million daily downloads in April from March’s 5.02 million.
“April’s Fiksu Indexes reflect three key forces at play which, when combined, created increases in volume and costs,” explained Fiksu CEO Micah Adler.

A new report from Distimo – a trusted provider of mobile app store analytics for developers – indicates that revenue for the Android based Google Play store is climbing… and fast.
In November of 2012, for example, revenue from Google Play made up only 19% of combined total revenue between the Apple App Store and Google Play. As of April 2013, that reality had changed.
Google Play’s share increased by 8%, now making up 27% of the combined total revenue of the two stores.

Following weeks of countdown fanfare, Apple has announced that its App Store has reached 50 billion downloads.
This number, the tech giant reveals, counts the number of individual application downloads, and does not include re-downloads.
The lucky individual who downloaded of the 50 billionth application will receive a whopping $10,000 iTunes gift card.
50 additional winners will receive a $500 iTunes gift card.

A number of iOS app developers – most of whom wish to conceal their identities for fear of Apple App Store backlash – are coming forward to assert that Apple is cracking down on apps that feature “filtering, bookmarking, searching, or sharing recommendations.”
As it turns out, Apple is allegedly rejecting apps right and left that violate regulation 2.25, which restricts apps that could be confused for other app stores.
It appears Apple has stretched the remit of 2.25 to cover sharing via email or social networks. The ability to search the App Store within third-party apps also now seems to be restricted.
