CES 2013 Panasonics Biggest Tablet Upstages Micro Mobile Machines on Opening Day 300x200 CES 2013: Panasonics Biggest Tablet Upstages Micro Mobile Machines on Opening DayIf 2012 was the year of incrementally smaller tablet devices, 2013 is starting off on a different foot.

Now, before you start to speculate that an iPad jumbo will soon replace the iPad mini in a consumer popularity contest, that’s not exactly what we’re suggesting. But in at least one eye-opening example, the biggest tablet on the block is getting all the attention today.

Panasonic is behind a presently unnamed device shown off this week at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. It’s a 20-inch Windows 8 based tablet that delivers a 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) screen for incredibly sharp images.

It goes without saying that this device isn’t intended for general consumer tablet use. In fact, it appears targeted toward the large and growing market of media and design professionals. Panasonic’s keynote, for instance, included images and video of the tablet in use all while it was praised by a professional photographer who claimed the tablet assisted greatly in his photo editing pursuits.

As of this writing, the precise specs aren’t known, although the tablet appears on site to be very, very thin. Nonetheless, we’re yet to get confirmation of the gargantuan tablet’s availability or price. But we’re told both are coming soon.

What’s your impression of Panasonic’s powerhouse tablet?
