The DirecTV iPhone app, which recently became available, is a very popular download.

In an effort to help you never miss an episode of your favorite shows the application is likely finding success due to its convenient way to help users find any program and capture it on their DVR.
Already, the new DirecTV remote scheduler application has reached over 100,000 downloads since being released one week ago. The application quickly rose in the rankings of free applications in the iTunes store and is now ranked number 9.
Ironically, DirecTV has been publicizing this remote programming functionality in a huge ad campaign without ever mentioning the new iPhone application.
As it stands, one would have to attribute the quick success of this new application to the quick praise by widespread worth of mouth.
