Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg confirmed Wednesday at the D11 conference that the social network of one billion members will not develop an offsite mobile ad network.
Sandberg said once again that Facebook is focused wholeheartedly on mobile and won’t allow itself to grow distracted by outside projects, regardless of how attractive they may be.
“Mobile is the top goal right now. Every product team is focused on mobile,” Sandberg says, reminding people that the company was developing for the desktop first just two short years ago.
Sandberg said Wednesday that she anticipates that more revenue growth will come from the company making the ads more effective and targeted, and thus more valuable, as opposed to pushing a higher number into the news feed.
“The growth you’ll see from us on mobile is less about inserting more ads and more about inserting better ads,” the prominent executive revealed, according to MarketWatch.
