Google to Launch Mobile Phone Network

At the moment this is from one source, but apparently Google is looking to start it’s own MVNO in the UK by piggybacking on the O2 network.

A VERY bad choice if this is true. Why? Because O2 have some serious data issues. I am more than suprised that they have not gone with T-mobile or 3 as their data options are far better, and I mean this from a technical stand point rather than a consumer price plan.

The main aim seems to be the desire for Google to ship phones with their mobile software on, and presumably ads too. This may not be a Google phone though, it sounds as if it will be a selection of branded Nokia handsets.

As techcrunch put it:

“This is highly speculative at this point and is based on a single source. A lot of Google mobile phone rumors have turned out to be false.”

Stay tuned for more info. Do you think Google branching out to mobile networks is a good idea?
