PayPal announced on the company’s official blog today that its new mobile SDK allows iOS device users to make in-app purchases through the ubiquitous payment service.
“Everyone knows that mobile is changing the way consumers shop and pay, and no one more than developers who must have a mobile presence to compete in today’s environment,” announced James Barrese, CTO of PayPal.
PayPal hopes the SDK for developers will “reduce friction” when it comes to user payments.
Thanks to the new SDK, customers never leave the developer’s app to pay for what they want. In fact, according to details revealed in Barrese’s blog entry, app users can either click a PayPal button or scan a credit card using the company’s card.io technology.
“We’re making it available for iOS developers first, but we’ll expand to other platforms soon,” the executive confirmed.
