I can't argue with the overall point, but that Chitika survey really shouldn't be used, since it compares the performance of IAB-sized banner ads viewed on traditional desktop browsers to the same IAB-sized banner ads viewed on the iPhone's Mobile Safari browser. You can't compare an ad in a medium it's designed for to the same ad in a medium it's not designed for and expect to come away with any meaningful conclusions beyond 'design ads for the medium in which they'll be experienced.'
