iPhone Gets MMS Service September 25th

A big promise for the iPhone has at last been kept.
On September 25th, AT&T will introduce MMS service for Apple’s iPhone 3G and 3GS customers. The original iPhone, however, will not be capable of accommodating the new MMS service – which allows instant messages to include embedded photos, video, and other multimedia.
The announcement (while welcome news for iPhone fans) is concerning some mobile marketers this weekend. Pressure on the already overburdened network, as one would expect, will likely increase dramatically when bandwidth-absorbing MMS messages begin flooding the mobile realm.
Although there are differing views on whether this development helps or hinders mobile marketers in the short term, it’s a concern that is very real for many. Those who are initially more optimistic, however, maintain that alleged “network burdens” will not pose any challenges either now or in the future to mobile marketing.

i don’t have an iphone yet, but i wish i can get one soon, because i love it since i first saw it. MMS? i don’t use them, in all of my life i hadn’t sent anyone, and i think many people are in the same position than me. i don’t think it was necessary, but it’s welcome. thanks for sharing!
