If you’re among the last minute shoppers looking to satisfy a still-unfinished Christmas shopping list, there’s an excellent possibility that your mobile device is your new best friend (assuming it wasn’t already).
According to published reports over the weekend, last minute shoppers are turning to the web – and, in particular, their smartphones and tablets – in record numbers to complete the final purchases of this holiday shopping season.
In particular, daily deals are exploding in popularity with just one week to go before the Christmas holiday.
Brian Kent, an independent retail analyst based in Chicago, says “it would be interesting to see what kind of traffic and traction daily deals sites are seeing today. The resurgence is probably greater than anything this market expected.”
According to Kent, platforms like JustDeals.com are red-hot today because they are optimal for bargain hunters who need a wide array of products and free shopping.
As MMW reported last month, citing the latest industry data from comScore, mCommerce has reached a record high percentage of total online spending in three of the last fourth quarters of the fiscal year. And this holiday quarter may very well prove to be the best in history for mobile commerce.
