Mobilize Your Blog In 5 Minutes Or Less With MoFuse
Posted by victor on Oct 4, 2007 in Featured, Mobile Websites, Mobilize
I did, it took me under 3 minutes to mobilize this site. I tested my MoFuse Mobile site out on dotMobi and it scored really well in most areas. In fact my scores are better than my actual mobilized version of this blog which by the way is right here, you don’t need a special URL, just browse the site on your mobile gadget and your handset should be getting fed some xhtml mobile profile bits.
I’ll talk more about the scores in a few seconds because I just got sidetracked.
<Start Sidetrack Alert>
Something that I noticed right away that should be filed under mobile marketing tips; watch your headlines. If you don’t want them wrapping and looking all discombobulated and stuff then try to shoot for 3 to 4 word headlines. See how 7, 8 and 9 all sorta run together vs. 1, 2, 4 and 5 in the two image snippets below? I’ll borrow a quote from my friend Ann where I work… “eesh“! There’s another big problem here but it’s even further off topic so I’ll make another post about that.
<End Sidetrack Alert>

The mobile web site I made with MoFuse scored really well with dotMobi Mobile Web Site Tester, overall it rated out as a 4. If you happened to 35 Ways To Test Your Mobile Web Site then you know my actual mobile version of this blog scored a 3. The one thing that’s a little weird though is my site flunked two important tests but it still graded out good. These are actually really important because of the mobile landscape where users have so many different OSs you kinda want to feed em the cleanest code possible. Not sure how I can actually not pass in these two areas but still be graded as Good, but I did?

Here are the readiness size, time and cost results. Not too shabby but this is extremely lightweight data that I used to try the system out. Your site might be this way or it might not.

Inside the mobile site dashboard MoFuse has also integrated a monetization feature that will let you integrate your own Google Adsense ID with their system to facilitate the display of Adsense Ads in your Mobile Web Site. Understand though, you’ll need to agree to the MoFuse monetization terms and conditions which state that there will be a 50/50 revenue share. This is accomplished by showing your Adsense ad’s 50% of the time and their Adsense ad’s 50% of the time. So, if that works for you go for it.
They even have a design center to let you spiff up your mobile site too.

Or, you can go extra ultra spiffy by throwing in a mobilized version of your logo like this. Cool huh?

Go check it out, it’s free and I have 10 MoFuse invites if you need one.

Nice little writeup! Thanks for the kind words.
Any particular reason why you’re not switching from your Wordpress plugin to MoFuse?

I gotta apologize about these images overlapping the comments. I just implemented a new wordpress theme and I’m not quite used to the image alignment features.
I may actually switch, I like the fact that it tested out better + because I’m on board early with MoFuse I was able to get a killer MoFuse URL of (m.mofuse.com/mobile)!
Today, my blog silently handles the mobile browser thing, that would go away if I switch. I gotta think that through because I’ve got some mobile readers.

Yeah you did, that is a good URL.
MoFuse has PHP code that will automatically detect and redirect your mobile visitors directly to your MoFuse mobile site.
It’s really easy to install, just copy and paste the code into the very top line of the headers.php file in your WP template.

Ah, ok yes. I grabbed the php code and added to my blog. It works like a charm… if you’re keeping score at home make it 3 minutes, 30 seconds

David, how do I decipher those stats that I’m seeing appear in my dashboard now? I see 80.
David B. | Oct 4, 2007 | Reply
Those are pageviews, we’re working on more in-depth statistic tracking and that will be included in the next release.
You should see in the coming days/week both pageviews and unique visitors. But for now, those are just pageviews. So you got 80 pageviews today so far.

anybody have idea, when they will open registrations?
For those who dont want to wait, you can create full mobile website at http://www.wirenode.com

Tomas, I suppose they’d do so when they come out of beta OR after they’ve had enough users on the system during the beta period.
I still have 9 invites if anyone is interested.

Wow, I’ve had 229 views today in mobile format. Please let me know if you’re experiencing any trouble with the new format.
