Samsung Says Smaller Tablet Really is Coming Soon 300x200 Samsung Says Smaller Tablet Really is Coming SoonLast week, MMW reported that Samsung is planning to challenge tech rival Apple by launching a new tablet fashioned to compete with the iPad mini.

The “Galaxy Note 8.0,” which will deliver most of the features found on Samsung’s GalNote 10.1, was confirmed Monday by Samsung Mobile vice president JK Shin.

According to the latest information coming out of the far east, the 8-inch Samsung tablet will be available in two models – one with WiFi connectivity and another with WiFi + 3G connectivity.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 may be formally unveiled next month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The tablet (running Jelly Bean 4.2.) will deliver an 8-inch TFT screen with 1280×800-resolution, a 5MP rear camera, front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 32GB (or 16GB) for internal storage, and expandable memory through the microSD card slot.

According to TCD:

Industry experts agree that a new tablet within the 8-inch territory is a strategic choice for the Korean Electronics giant, and with such form factor, it can make some headway in the segment where the Kindle Fire HD and iPad mini are doing pretty well.

No pricing data or market release dates have been revealed publicly yet.
