As MMW reported earlier this week, Apple has begun distributing media invites to its media event in China, scheduled for next Wednesday, September 11th.
As many industry watchers are speculating today, the only way Apple would hold a media event in China the day after the company’s domestic iPhone announcement would be to announce something utterly spectacular.
Consequently, all signs point to Apple’s Beijing announcement being tied to the iPhone-maker’s rumored new deal with China’s largest mobile carrier, China Mobile.
If, on the other hand, a China Mobile deal isn’t touted, the next likely scenario calls for Apple to announce that the iPhone 5S and/or iPhone 5C will reach China at the same time the devices reach the rest of the world.
“In the past, Chinese consumers, some of Apple’s most rabid fans, have had to wait for months after the official launch for the phone to come out in the country, leading some to travel elsewhere to purchase phones and bring them back to the country to sell at a premium without the aftersales services one gets from a legitimate Apple purchase,” the WSJ reports.
