POSTED EARLIER TODAY:
The NFC Times is reporting today that Visa Global Head of Mobile Product Bill Gajda has been relieved of his duties.
The apparent termination of Gajda’s employment is all part of an ongoing executive shake-up that plays into the plan of new CEO Charles Scharf’s hopes of revitalizing the company and its mobile ambitions.
Additionally, Visa’s Global Head of eCommerce Jennifer Schulz and Global Head of Product Jim McCarthy are believed to have also been dismissed.
The NFC Times report notes that industry observers “can point to few accomplishments for Gajda during his three and a half years at Visa.”
Although V.me remains one of the fastest growing mobile platforms in the space, intense competition from the likes of Square, PayPal, Google Wallet and Isis, which will be launching nationally later this year, has left the company wanting to strengthen its position in the space – a process that will obviously include some fresh leadership at the top.
As of this writing, it is unclear who will replace Gajda as the head of mobile.
