On Tuesday, mHealthWatch reported that the Obama Administration unveiled what’s being called an ambitious and unprecedented plan to explore the human brain.
President Obama pledged to ask Congress for $100 million next year in order to “better understand how we think and how we learn and how we remember.”
The President hopes the research will lead to new treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy and various incapacitating brain injuries.
The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) initiative would accomplish this by developing tools that would allow researchers to monitor millions or even billions of individual neurons as they interact to form thoughts or create memories.
So what does the BRAIN Initiative mean, exactly? The White House has just released this new inforgraphic highlighting the full scope of this promising effort.
