Why This Week Might Be a Game Changer for Mobile Advertising, Social

Why This Week Might Be a Game Changer for Mobile Advertising Social 300x168 Why This Week Might Be a Game Changer for Mobile Advertising, Social This week may very well be one of the most consequential of the entire year in response to the news and insights that will be emerging from some of the biggest companies in the social, mobile, and digital advertising worlds.

For Facebook, it doesn’t get any bigger than Wednesday.

Tomorrow, the social media behemoth will host its F8 developers conference in San Francisco (for the first time in three years). Facebook is widely expected to announce the launch of a mobile ad network that will directly challenge everyone from Google to Amazon in the burgeoning mobile advertising space.

Given Facebook’s growing clout in mobile advertising, the launch of a Facebook mobile ad network could be one of the biggest developments we’ll see in mobile advertising for 2014.

Adding to the pile of news expected this week, Sprint is holding an ultra-secretive mystery event later today, the media invitation for which only reads: “hear it for yourself.”  The buzz on the street calls for a Sprint partnership with a major streaming music partner.

Also on tap for this week are earnings reports from Twitter, Samsung, and LinkedIn, all of which – individually and collectively – speak to the health, trends, and challenges prevalent across many aspects of the mobile landscape.

Not to be outdone, TechCrunch’s startup conference called Disrupt is set to kick off May 5th and we will likely hear a number of impactful announcements out of that conference as well.

So buckle up. It’s gonna be a busy week in the blogosphere.
